The company announced tonight that Moxley will defend the GCW World Heavyweight title against Homicide on The World at GCW, which takes place on January 23rd.
The world title defense is Moxley’s first announced appearance since Tony Khan announced on November 2 that Moxley was on his way into an inpatient alcohol treatment program. Moxley is signed to AEW, but has also performed on the independent stage and won the GCW World title from Matt Cardona back on September 4th.
Kill won a Battle Royale to decide the next challenger for the GCW World title on New Year’s Day. It was not mentioned when the world title defense would take place.
Matches set for The Wrld at GCW, which will take place in the Hammerstein Ballroom, include Jonathan Gresham vs. Blake Christian for ROH World title, Joey Janela vs. Matt Cardona, Allie Katch vs. Ruby Soho and a trio match with Gringo Loco, Demonic Flamita and Arez face Bandido, Laredo Kid and ASF.
