How to find more fast balls (and what they are for)

IN Pokémon Sword & Shield, players must find lots of fast balls that are useful for catching wild Pokémon as soon as the encounter begins. While there are 23 different types of Poké Balls in the game, Quick Ball is one of the best at capturing wild Pokémon and completing Pokédex. There are four locations in the game where players must look for these useful items in addition to the individual Quick Ball hidden in the grass on Route 7, just before the entrance to the tunnel.

Quick Balls has a catch rate of five on the first turn of a match, allowing it to catch most non-legendary Pokémon before they even have a chance to attack. For reference, an Ultra Ball has a catch rate of two when players attempt to capture Pokémon Sword and Shield. After the first round of the match, Quick Ball will return to a catch rate of one, the same as a regular Poké Ball. This ability is especially useful for Pokémon that are prone to escape from combat, such as wild Psychic-type Pokémon. In addition, the use of Quick Balls will make it much faster to capture Pokémon, as players do not have to find ways to reduce the health of the wild Pokémon without killing it.

Fast balls can be purchased at the Wyndon Stadium Pokémon Center for 1,000 PokéDollar per ball, and for every ten players purchased, they will be rewarded with a free Premier Ball. In addition to buying them, in order to find as many fast balls as possible, players should interact with the ballman in Pokémon sword and shield each time they win the Championship Cup or Galarian Star Cup as part of The Crown Tundra DLC. There is a one-in-28 chance that the NPC will give the player a set of three fast balls. Although players do not receive a fast ball, other prizes include a large nugget of gold, a wish piece, some rare candy and a ball of life that are all worth having.

Players can also take advantage of Poké Jobs, which are missions in the Pokémon Center Rotomi that allow players to send their Pokémon in boxes out on errands to gain experience, statistical boosts, and several different things in Pokémon Sword & Shield. If players accept a job with a star rating of 7, 8 or 9, there is a chance that their Pokémon will return with a few quick balls as a reward for completing their task. Poké jobs change daily, so players should use this method regularly to collect as many fast balls as possible.

The last consistent method of earning fast balls requires players to purchase the Expansion Pass for DLC. This will give players access to the Isle of Armor, which is home to a mysterious unit in the Master Dojo. The device will transform an item into something else depending on which players are placed inside Pokémon Sword & Shield’s Cram-o-matic. For example, if players insert Four Yellow Apricorns, they will have a 25 percent chance of acquiring a fast ball. Yellow Apricorns are an item found abundantly in berry trees.
