The College of Agricultural and Life Sciences is looking for a professional communicator to contribute to CALS External Relations (50%) and Dairy Innovation Hub (50%) news and public information activities including events for one-year. The communication specialist will write stories about agricultural and biological sciences for news releases, newsletters, websites and more and will contribute to social media following brand standards in order to reach farmers, policymakers, scientists and Wisconsin residents.
The ideal candidate will be an excellent written communicator, with 1-3 years of experience in writing for many venues, have strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Familiarity with animal agriculture and scientific research is desirable. Experience with WordPress (web content management), customer relationship management databases and design software a plus.
The Office of External Relations is responsible for college-level communications – including an alumni magazine, internal e-newsletter, media releases and social media – alumni relations and legislative issues.
The Dairy Innovation Hub positions Wisconsin’s dairy community for economic, environmental and social success by advancing science, developing talent and leveraging collaboration at UW-Madison, UW-Platteville and UW-River Falls and throughout the state.
This position is eligible for remote work based on the candidate’s individual situation, but in-person attendance will be required approximately 6 times during the course of the year for trainings and special events.
