Man clings to life after being shot in Brisbane’s inner city

A man stays in the hospital and fights for life after being shot in Brisbanes inner city earlier this morning.

Police were called to a house on Highland Street in Wavell Heights around 7:45 a.m. today after reports that a man in his late 30s had been shot.

It is believed that there had been a quarrel with a group of people in the home before the shooting took place.

Police confirmed that a man was seen fleeing in a silver car shortly after.

“A man was located with significant leg ulcers,” a spokesman for Queensland Police told 9news.com.au.

Police believe the victim was known to his perpetrator.

Residents in the vicinity performed CPR on the man before the emergency services arrived.

– He has been brought to the hospital in a critical condition, says the police spokesman.

“And a crime scene has since been declared while the investigation continues.”

It has been confirmed that several occupants live in the house, including young children.

Residents in the neighborhood said it was not uncommon to see police in the residence and that officers had searched the property weeks ago.

“All the windows are locked so it’s getting all suspicious, everyone here that I’ve talked to is very suspicious of what’s going on there,” said neighbor Barry.

“We hope they move out now.”

No one has been charged in connection with the incident, and police have taken statements from the house’s adult occupants to help with the investigation.
