Britney Spears’ estranged sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, has accused the star of triggering death threats against her family through “accusing” posts on social media.
Spears siblings spoke to each other on social media on Thursday after allegations Jamie Lynn Spears, 30, made about her big sister in her new memoir, Things I should have said.
After “Toxic” singer Britney Spears, 40, took to Twitter to knock out her sister’s recent appearance on Good morning America, where she promoted the book, the younger Spears sister said on Instagram that she and her family have been exposed to threats.
“Honestly, the things that are being said are definitely not the truth,” the mother of two wrote, “and I have to clarify that, because now it’s getting harder for me to rationalize to my oldest daughter why our family keeps getting death threats., as a result of their aunt’s vague and accusing post, especially when we know she could tell the truth and put an end to it all in a second if she wanted to.
“Unfortunately, after a whole life where I have been silent, I have become aware that this is not becoming a reality and I may have to correct the record myself to protect my and my family’s well-being.”
Concluding her post, in which she insisted that her book “is not about” her sister, Jamie Lynn Spears wrote: “There are no pages and I do not want drama, but I speak my truth to heal my traumas , so I can close this chapter and move on, and I wish my sister could do the same.
“No matter what comes, I will always love my big sister, and be here for her. It’s time to put an end to the unhealthy chaos that has ruled my life for so long.”
In her book, Jamie Lynn Spears shared her account of her sister’s mental health problems, which led to her being placed under a conservatory – where her personal and financial decisions were taken out of her hands – for nearly 14 years.
When discussing a quarrel she had with her famous sister, Jamie Lynn Spears said in her Good morning America interview, which aired Wednesday: “She cursed at me and then I just walked out of the room. I was like, we’re just all family under one roof. I’m not trying to argue.
“And when I try to remove myself from the situation, that’s when I suspect she’s just getting really angry, and my eldest daughter tried, you know, to mediate the situation, I hated it, like it’s not what you must do, you are 12. “
Britney Spears struck back in her own statement on Twitter, writing: “The 2 things that bothered me, as my sister said, were how my behavior was out of control. She was never around me 15 years ago at the time. .. so why are they talking about it at all unless she wants to sell a book at my expense ??? REALLY ??? “
Elsewhere in her post, Britney Spears said her family had “ruined my dreams 100 billion percent and tried to make me look like the crazy one.”
“My family loves to pull me down and hurt me always, so I’m disgusted by them !!!” the mother of two continued.
The sisters’ evil blood has received a lot of attention in recent months, with Britney Spears criticizing her younger siblings in a series of posts on social media.
Back in October, after Jamie Lynn Spears revealed the cover of her book, Britney Spears seemed to be taking a flick in an Instagram post.
She wrote in part: “Psssssss good news too … I’m considering publishing a book 📚 next year 😜 but I’m having trouble coming up with a title so maybe my fans can help !!!!
“Opportunity # 1 … ‘S ***, I really do not know’ Opportunity # 2 … ‘I really do not care what people think’ 😂🙄🤷🏼♀️ !!!! ‘ What do you think 🤔🤔🤔 ???? “
Jamie Lynn Spears’ book was originally to be named I must confess: Family, fame and finding out, which draws a line from Britney Spears’ debut hit single “… Baby One More Time.” That was changed shortly after the job title was leaked.
The younger Spears sibling faced further controversy prior to the book’s publication when the charity organization This is My Brave for Mental Health, to which she had planned to donate the profits from her book, turned down her offer.
Britney Spears fans commented on the charity’s side in droves, pointing to the singer’s allegations that her family was complicit in her controversial conservatory, which was officially dissolved in November.
Jamie Lynn Spears said for her part about the conservatory in her Good morning America interview this week: “First, I do not understand what it was [that was] put in place. I was 17 years old, I was about to have a baby.
“So I did not understand what was happening. I was not focused on it either. I was focused on being 17 and having a baby. I understand just as little of it then as I do now.”
