19 weird things that happened in teen shows / movies

Like … shall we talk about these?

Maybe I just have a low threshold for second-hand embarrassment, but there are certain things in teen shows and movies that I just find so weird and creepy – and no one seems to talk about them.

Here are just a few of the things that bother me in teen shows and movies:

On One Tree Hill, when Julian wrote a TV show about his wife and her friends when they were in high school, and then introduced himself as a character.

IT’S SO MUCH FOR ME. Especially because Julian really is not friends with the other characters and he dated Peyton – and now he’s just inserting himself into their teenage years ?? Very strange and creepy.

IN Twilight, as all adoptive siblings were lovers with each other:

Summit Entertainment

Like, OK, Jessica admits this is weird once in a while, but that’s the end of it. I feel like someone should have checked in on these kids. Carlisle clearly encourages some strange incest families. Do people think the kids grew up together ??

On Buffy the Vampire Slayer, en Spike literally created a robot Buffy to have sex with:

This is so creepy and weird, and it was completely flooded. It also lasted SO LONG.

On Joy, when Will throws himself in Rocky Horror Picture Show:

Not only is Will a teacher, which makes it super weird that he should play in the play, but he talks about himself as the love interest of a character played by a student. Like he was supposed to fully perform “Touch-A-Touch-A-Touch Me” with Rachel. Completely inappropriate.

And on Riverdale, when Betty’s mother appeared in Carrie:

They could not find another student to play mom ?? It’s like the other main character. It was so strange that they cast a parent, let alone that she would actually do it.

IN 13 Continued 30, when Jenna spent the night with a group of children:

Sony pictures are released

Didn’t their parents think it was super weird when their kids came home and thought, “Hey, this random 30-year-old in our building would like to host a bunch of kids for an overnight stay” ?? I just do not understand how this happened.

On Beautiful little liars, when Ezra gave a full farewell speech to her class and CLEARLY just talked to Aria:

I can not even see this scene. He literally walks straight to Aria and gestures to her at some point. I guarantee everyone in the class knew that at this point.

And just the fact that they got married … especially IN THEIR CITY, in front of literally everyone:

Free form

I’m sorry, but how did Ezra not get in jail ?? Everyone looked alike while a girl married her teacher whom she had met while she was a minor !!

On One Tree Hill, when Brooke, Haley and Quinn casually dressed up as superheroes to help a girl who was being bullied:

This poor girl. This was just so random. It’s even more awkward because Haley was a teacher in that city … Imagine, for example. your old teacher shows up in a superhero costume when you get bullied. I feel like people would make more fun of you.

On Glee, when Finn kissed Emma (his former supervisor) and then Will challenged him to a Backstreet Boys / NSYNC dance-off (which they also physically fought under?):

If I were Emma, I would be so embarrassed about this that I would literally never talk to Will again. I feel like Will has always forgotten that he was their TEACHER and a full grown adult. I also love that after this he is like … well, I can never forgive you, so it was just for nothing. What was the point, Will ???

IN 10 things I hate about you, when Kat read her poem to the class and began to cry:

Buena Vista pictures

It’s not that bad, but it feels a bit like the Aria / Ezra scene I mentioned. Like … do not do this in front of the whole class. Imagine you are running your own business in English and it happens.

On Beautiful little liars, when Aria was implanted with Emily’s egg:

Free form

This was so wild. It just felt like such a bizarre plot to force Emily and Ali together. Like, was A an Emison stan ??

IN Scott Pilgrim Vs. World, when 22-year-old Scott dated a high school student:

Universal images

This was so rude and creepy to me, and TBH, just unnecessary. I feel like the plot would not have changed if she just … was not in high school.

IN Bogsmart, when Miss Fine walked into TEENAGERS ‘party and flirted with Theo:

United Artist’s release

I know they tried to make it OK by saying Theo was 20, but it’s still creepy. Why did she even go in and drink with a bunch of her underage students in the first place ?? So weird.

On The Vampire Diaries, when Stefan dated the copy of his ex:

This is frankly very creepy, like the fact that he did not tell her that and she had to figure it out on her own.

And also when he literally chased Elena for several months after meeting her and then decided to go back to high school so he could be close to her:

Also creepy. Also, what 100-and-something-year-old vampire with self-respect would go back to high school ??

IN Lizzie McGuire movie, da Pablo dated Lizzie, a middle school student:

Lizzie has literally just finished MIDDLE school and she’s starting to date an international pop star who seems to be at least 20. I know they never say his age, but it’s still really weird and a little creepy to me.

On Riverdale, when Veronica insisted that she and Jughead kiss to basically get revenge on Archie and Betty for kissing:

This just felt wrong to see, and Jughead using their ship names is very scary. The way they do it is also really awkward. Archie is clearly not happy and it seems that Veronica is purposefully trying to make him uncomfortable. It also looks like it was something she and Jughead had planned earlier because they just really wanted to kiss. Plus, they wait until Betty is very clearly full of doing it. The whole thing is very skewed.

IN High School Musical, as Ryan and Sharpay had played opposite each other in musicals all their lives and often played love interests despite being siblings:

Disney Channel

Did they have to kiss for plays and stuff like that? So rough.
