The salad bar chain Choppaluna has laid out ambitious growth plans, which will see it open 10 restaurants across the UK next year.
The casual food and food brand opened its first UK website in London in October 2020, but has said it will now kickstart plans to grow rapidly across the country.
Choppaluna, which operates in London’s Bloomsbury and has locations in Germany, is the latest concept from Hero Brands, which also owns the German Doner Kebab and Island Poke chains.
It said the expansion will start with plans to open another London restaurant in High Holborn in the first quarter of next year.
A website in Glasgow opens in the second quarter along with openings in Edinburgh, Manchester, Oxford, Birmingham and Cambridge later this year.
The group said a number of additional locations will be announced next year.
Choppaluna, which was founded by Nikras Agha and Bijan Azadfard, specializes in salad bowls and wraps.
Sir. Agha said: “We are delighted to be moving forward with our growth plans to bring our super delicious, healthy dining experience with guilt-free pampering across the UK.
“It’s particularly gratifying to be moving forward with plans to open seven new restaurants across the UK so soon after the launch of our first restaurant in London Bloomsbury in October 2020, and in my hometown of Berlin last year – it’s a huge achievement for our team.
“The opportunity really resonates with our franchise partners in the Hero Brands group, and we will be working with them to explore opportunities for further expansion across the UK.”
Food-to-go and casual food have been exposed to a major impact from the pandemic as a result of forced closures as well as reduced number of visitors as many office workers stayed home instead of seeking lunch in centers.
Nevertheless, the company and owner Hero Brands remain optimistic about its long-term future.
Athif Sarwar, CEO of Hero Brands, said: “Hero Brands is responding to new consumer trends and focusing on growing the brands of the future.
“Eating out is changing, and younger consumers are demanding shorter stays, tasty healthier food and an aspirational experience that can be shared on their social channels.
“Choppaluna is responding to this trend and we worked very closely with Nikras and Bijan to develop the brand and a proposal that really disrupts the healthy eating area.
“Expanding across the UK is a huge achievement for both of them and we will give them unmatched industry expertise as they move forward with their growth ambitions.”
