Oregon to hire Marshall Malchow as chief of staff for football

Oregon’s New Staff Under Head Coach Dan Lanning continues to grow.

On Thursday night, Pete Thamel of Yahoo! Sports reported that Oregon is going to hire Marshall Malchow as chief of staff of the football program.

Malchow, 33, is currently the associate athletic director at Texas A&M, where he was hired in the spring of 2020. Texas A&M had a successful season in 2021, beating Alabama at home and achieving a top five recruiting class for the class of 2022.

Before Malchow briefly worked at A&M, he and Lanning crossed paths in Georgia for many years. Malchow was Georgia’s Director of Player Personnel, and under his control, the Bulldogs thrived in recruiting. tThe Bulldogs garnered top five recruiting classes consecutively each year. In February 2018, he was named National Player Personnel Director of the Year by FootballScoop.com.

Malchow served as director of the Georgia players’ personnel title from 2016 to 2020.

Before landing in Georgia, Malchow held the same title in Washington and took control of all recruiting aspects for the Huskies in 2015. Malchow originally joined Chris Petersen’s staff in 2012 at Boise State as an assistant director of player staff.

This hiring comes days after the offensive coordinator’s reports Kenny Dillingham and special teams coordinator Matt Powledge join the Oregon staff under Lanning.
