DC police have arrested and charged a man with aggravated assault in an attack on a woman at the Eastern Market on Monday night.

Police identified the suspect as Roman Strickland, 30, of Northeast DC

The victim, Emily Lebowitz, has previously described the assault at the WTOP. Lebowitz said she left a gym class around 6 p.m. 5.30pm at the intersection of 7th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue with her 5-year-old daughter as she was knocked down on the sidewalk.

“I remember walking with my daughter down the street, just having a nice conversation, and out of nowhere I felt like a ton of bricks hit me from behind,” Lebowitz told WTOP.

Lebowitz broke two teeth.

Her daughter was not injured and nothing was stolen.
